Are Cyclamen Indoor or Outdoor Plants?

Cyclamen is a genus of perennial flowering plants, native to Europe and the Mediterranean. They are often grown as ornamental plants indoors or outdoors, and can be found in many gardens.

Cyclamen grow best in cool climates and thrive in full sun or partial shade. The flowers of the cyclamen come in shades of purple, pink, white and red, adding color to any landscape.

Indoor Growing

Cyclamens are often grown as houseplants due to their low maintenance and attractive foliage. When grown indoors, cyclamens should be placed in an area with bright indirect sunlight.

If temperatures are too high, the plant may stop blooming. If temperatures fall below 55°F (13°C), the plant will enter dormancy until temperatures rise again. It is important to keep the soil moist but not soggy; too much water can cause root rot and other issues.

Outdoor Growing

Outdoor cyclamens thrive best in areas with temperatures ranging from 40-70°F (4-21°C). They need partial sun to full shade and moist soil that drains well; they will not tolerate wet feet so make sure there is proper drainage before planting them outdoors. Planting outdoors requires a bit more care than growing indoors, as they must be protected from extreme cold or heat, too much moisture or dry conditions, and pests such as slugs or snails which feast on their leaves and flowers.

Conclusion
Cyclamen can be successfully grown either indoors or outdoors depending on local climate conditions; however they do require some extra attention when planted outdoors compared to when grown indoors. With proper care, cyclamens will provide long lasting beauty both inside and outside your home for years to come!
