Are Dragon Trees Indoor or Outdoor Plants?

Dragon trees are an evergreen ornamental plant native to the Canary Islands and parts of Africa. They are a popular houseplant around the world and can be grown indoors or outdoors.

The dragon tree is named for its long, sword-like leaves which can grow up to three feet long.

Its trunk is thick and sturdy, often with multiple prongs at the top, giving it a unique and interesting shape. The leaves themselves are a bright, glossy green color with red edges that add to its beauty.

When grown indoors, dragon trees prefer bright light and high humidity levels. They should be placed near a window that gets plenty of indirect sunlight during the day. If the light levels are too low for an extended period of time, the leaves may become yellow or brown, indicating that the plant needs more light.

Dragon trees also need regular watering to thrive indoors; however, they should not be over-watered as this can cause root rot. The soil should be kept moist but not soggy and allowed to dry out slightly between waterings. Fertilizer should also be applied once every few months for best results.

Outdoors, dragon trees prefer full sun and warm temperatures. They thrive in areas with well-drained soil and need protection from strong winds as their trunks are not very sturdy. Dragon trees do not tolerate freezing temperatures well so they must be brought indoors or covered when cold weather is expected.

Conclusion:

Dragon Trees can be grown both indoors and outdoors with proper care provided – they need bright light when grown indoors while they prefer full sun when grown outdoors. However, they cannot tolerate freezing temperatures so must be brought inside or covered if cold weather is expected.
