Can You Wear Sandals for Hiking?

When it comes to hiking, foot support and protection is essential. Shoes designed specifically for hiking provide the best comfort and stability, and are the best option for any trail.

But what about sandals? Can they provide the same level of support and protection?

Sandals are a great option in certain scenarios, but they don’t necessarily offer the same level of protection as dedicated hiking shoes. Sandals are generally best suited to short hikes on easy terrain with little risk of getting your feet wet or injured. On longer hikes, sandals can cause your feet to get over-heated, blistered or sunburnt.

If you do decide to wear sandals while hiking, then choose ones with straps that are adjustable and secure around your ankles. This will help keep them securely in place while walking on uneven ground. Look for sandals with extra cushioning in the sole for extra comfort, as well as a good tread pattern for grip on slippery terrain.
