Does Jordan Lake Have Hiking Trails?

Jordan Lake, located in Chatham County, North Carolina, is a popular destination for outdoor recreation. The lake itself is 13,940 acres and offers an array of activities such as fishing, boating, swimming and canoeing.

The lake also has over 20 miles of shoreline with various types of terrain and forests.

The US Army Corps of Engineers manages the Jordan Lake State Recreational Area. This area has five different access points including Ebenezer Church, Crosswinds Campground, Parker’s Creek, New Hope Overlook and Vista Point.

Visitors to the lake can enjoy camping at one of the four campgrounds located around the lake. These campgrounds include Crosswinds Campground on the south side of the lake, Poplar Point Campground on the north side of Jordan Lake, Vista Point Campground located on the western shoreline and Ebenezer Church Recreation Area located on the eastern shoreline.

In addition to camping at Jordan Lake SRA there are several activities available to visitors such as biking trails around several parts of the lake including Vista Point and Poplar Point. There are also trails for hiking around the lake with some offering views from atop hills overlooking Jordan Lake. A variety of wildlife can be found around Jordan Lake as well with deer, geese and even bald eagles being spotted by visitors.

Jordan Lake is also home to some amazing natural features such as a waterfall located near Vista Point Campground which can be enjoyed via a short hike along one of the trails surrounding Jordan Lake.

Jordan Lake does have hiking trails available for visitors to enjoy while visiting this popular recreational area in Chatham County North Carolina. In addition to hiking trails there are also biking trails and breathtaking views from atop hills overlooking this majestic 13,940 acre lake.
