Does Telluride Have Mountain Biking?

Mountain biking is an increasingly popular activity in many parts of the world, and Telluride, Colorado is no exception. Located in the San Juan Mountains, Telluride is well-known for its stunning scenery and incredible mountain biking trails. The area offers a variety of terrain from gentle dirt roads to challenging single-track and downhill trails.

The town of Telluride itself has two main trail networks: the Jud Wiebe Trail System and the Southside Trails. The Jud Wiebe Trail System is located just outside of town on the slopes of Prospect Mountain, and it consists of singletrack trails with a variety of difficulty levels. It’s a great place to get your mountain biking fix without having to venture too far out of town.

The Southside Trails are located just south of town on the other side of the San Miguel River. These trails are much more technical than those found in the Jud Wiebe Trail System, but they offer some great downhill riding as well as stunning views.

For those looking for something more extreme, Telluride also offers several downhill mountain biking parks. The most popular one is Lizard Head Pass Bike Park which features over 10 miles of lift-served downhill trails with jumps, berms, and steep drops. There’s also the Ophir Bike Park which has several long single-track trails with plenty of technical features.

If you’re looking for some truly epic mountain biking adventures, there are several companies in Telluride that offer guided trips into the wilderness areas nearby. You can explore alpine meadows, old mining roads, and remote passes on these trips with experienced guides who know every inch of this majestic landscape.

In conclusion, it’s safe to say that Telluride has plenty to offer when it comes to mountain biking – from easy cross-country trails right outside town to challenging downhill runs in nearby bike parks or backcountry trips into pristine wilderness areas.
