How Close Are the Fires to Heavenly Ski Resort?

The recent fires have caused a great deal of concern for the safety of Heavenly Ski Resort and its visitors. The resort is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which has been the source of some of the worst wildfires in California’s history. As a result, many are wondering how close are the fires to Heavenly Ski Resort?

The answer to this question depends on which fire is being discussed. The three main wildfires that have been causing problems in California this summer are the Creek Fire, El Dorado Fire, and North Complex Fire. All three fires are burning within relatively close proximity to Heavenly Ski Resort, but none are directly threatening it as of yet.

The Creek Fire is burning in Fresno and Madera Counties and has already scorched over 215,000 acres. It is approximately 188 miles from Heavenly Ski Resort, so while it is not close enough to directly threaten the resort, smoke from this fire could still be affecting air quality near Heavenly.

The El Dorado Fire is burning in San Bernardino County and has already scorched over 16,000 acres. This fire is much closer than Creek Fire, only 63 miles away from Heavenly Ski Resort. Again though, while it isn’t close enough to directly threaten the resort with flames or smoke at this point in time, air quality near Heavenly could still be affected by this fire.

Finally, the North Complex Fire is burning in Plumas County and has already scorched over 180,000 acres. This fire is much closer than either of the other two fires mentioned above – only 40 miles away from Heavenly Ski Resort. While it isn’t close enough to directly threaten the resort with flames or smoke at this point in time either, air quality near Heavenly could still be affected by this fire as well.

Conclusion

In conclusion, while none of these three major California wildfires are currently directly threatening Heavenly Ski Resort with flames or smoke at this point in time they all still remain relatively close to its location – ranging from 40 miles away (North Complex) to 188 miles away (Creek). As a result, air quality near Heavenly could potentially be affected by these fires depending on wind direction and other factors.
