How Do You Make a Camping Tent Out of Fondant?

Making a camping tent out of fondant is a great way to add an extra element of detail to your cake decorating projects. The process is fairly simple and straightforward, but it does require some special tools and materials. Here are the steps you’ll need to follow in order to make a perfect camping tent from fondant.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

To make your camping tent, you’ll need some white fondant (at least one pound), two or three colors of edible food coloring, a rolling pin, an exacto knife or pastry wheel, and some corn starch or powdered sugar.

Step 2: Prepare the Fondant

Start by kneading the fondant until it’s soft and pliable. Then roll out a piece that’s large enough to cover the area you’re working on. Dust the surface with either corn starch or powdered sugar so that it won’t stick when you start shaping your tent.

Step 3: Color Your Fondant

Once you have a smooth sheet of fondant, divide it into sections according to the colors you want for your tent. Take one section at a time and knead in the food coloring until you achieve the desired color. When all of your colors are ready, roll them out separately into thin sheets.

Step 4: Cut Out The Pieces

Now comes the fun part! Using an exacto knife or pastry wheel, cut out all of the pieces for your tent. You’ll need two long rectangles for the sides, two short rectangles for the ends, four triangles for the roof peaks and four smaller triangles for window flaps.

Step 5: Put It All Together

Take all of your pieces and arrange them as if they were forming a real camping tent. Make sure that all of the edges are aligned correctly before attaching them together with water or edible glue. Once everything is secured in place, you can use any leftover pieces to decorate your camping tent however you’d like!

Making a camping tent out of fondant may seem like a daunting task at first, but with these five simple steps it can be easily accomplished! With just some basic supplies and a bit of creativity, anyone can make an impressive fondant camping tent that will add an extra element of detail to their cake decorating projects.
