What Time Do the Lifts Open at Alta Ski Resort?

Alta Ski Resort is a ski destination located in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. The resort has been in operation since 1939 and is well known for its steep terrain and deep powder. Alta has a variety of lifts to get skiers and riders to the top of the mountain. So, what time do the lifts open at Alta Ski Resort?

The lifts typically open at 9:00 am in the morning during the peak winter season, which runs from mid-November through April. During this time, most of the lifts are open including Collins, Wildcat, Supreme, Sugarloaf, and Sunnyside. At opening time, only the Collins Lift opens for snowboarders as it is the only lift designated for snowboarding at Alta Ski Resort.

In addition to these main lifts, there are two other lifts that open later in the day: Albion Basin Lift and Catherine’s Area Lift. The Albion Basin Lift typically opens around 10:30 am while Catherine’s Area Lift generally opens at 11:00 am. However, these two lifts may not always be running as they depend on weather conditions.

During non-peak times such as spring or fall, some of the lifts may not be operating due to lower levels of skier traffic. For example, Wildcat Lift may close at 6 pm while Collins and Supreme Lifts may close at 7 pm on certain days during non-peak times.

In conclusion, most of the lifts at Alta Ski Resort open at 9:00 am during peak season while some may open later depending on weather conditions. During non-peak times some of the lifts may close earlier than usual due to lower skier traffic.
