Where Can You Camp in Glacier National Park Canada?

Glacier National Park in Canada is a stunning example of nature’s beauty. With majestic mountains, crystal clear lakes and cascading waterfalls, it’s a destination that should not be missed. For those looking to get away from it all and enjoy a camping adventure, Glacier National Park offers some of the best camping in Canada.

Camping in Glacier National Park can be done at one of the park’s nine campgrounds. These campgrounds are located throughout the park and offer both tent and RV sites.

All campsites come equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, bear-proof food lockers and pit toilets. Some sites also have electrical hook-ups for RVs. Campers must bring their own drinking water or buy it from the campground office.

The campgrounds in Glacier National Park can get quite crowded during peak season, so it’s recommended to make reservations ahead of time to ensure you get a spot. Reservations can be made online or by phone at 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783). All fees must be paid in full when making reservations and cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to arrival date to receive a full refund.

Backcountry Camping

If you’re looking for an even more remote camping experience, then backcountry camping might be just what you’re after. Backcountry camping is permitted throughout most of the park but requires a permit which can be obtained at any Visitor Centre or online through Parks Canada’s website. All backcountry campsites must be a minimum distance away from trails and are limited to 14 nights maximum stay.

Group Camping

Group camping is available at two of the park’s campgrounds – Therese Lake Campground and Akamina Parkway Campground – but space is limited so groups should book well in advance if they want to secure a spot.
