Which Is the Biggest Ski Resort in the World?

The world’s biggest ski resort is hard to pinpoint since there are so many different ways to measure the size of a ski resort. However, the number of lifts, skiable area, and vertical drop all play a role in determining which resort is the biggest.

Les 3 Vallées, France

Les 3 Vallées in France is widely considered to be the biggest ski resort in the world. The resort consists of eight separate ski areas that are connected by an impressive 200+ lifts.

This allows for access to an incredible 600km (373 miles) of slopes and an incredible vertical drop of 2,365m (7,754ft). It’s easy to see why this is one of the most popular ski resorts in Europe.

Park City, Utah

Park City in Utah is another giant among ski resorts. The resort has two distinct areas – Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort – combined they offer over 7,300 acres (2,949 hectares) of skiable terrain. There are also 41 lifts between them giving visitors access to over 300 runs and more than 100km (60 miles) of trails on offer.

Whistler Blackcomb, Canada

Whistler Blackcomb in Canada is often considered one of the best ski resorts in the world and it’s easy to see why when you look at its size. The resort boasts two mountains with over 8,100 acres (3,280 hectares) of skiable terrain as well as 37 lifts giving visitors access to more than 200 runs and nearly 125km (77 miles) of trails.

Conclusion:

When it comes to size alone Les 3 Vallées in France is undoubtedly the biggest ski resort in the world; however Park City in Utah and Whistler Blackcomb in Canada also boast impressive sizes with vast amounts of terrain for visitors to explore.
