The company was originally founded by Jack Frost Big Boulder Inc., a group of investors led by Jerry Silva and his wife Mary Ann Silva. The Silvas still own a majority interest in the company and actively manage the day-to-day operations of the resort.

Seven Springs Mountain Resorts LLC also owns two other resorts – Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort and Laurel Mountain Ski Area.
