Who Owns South Seas Island Resort?

South Seas Island Resort is an iconic destination in Captiva, Florida. Located on a secluded 330-acre wildlife sanctuary, the resort offers a variety of experiences for visitors, from outdoor recreation to luxury accommodations.

But who owns South Seas?

The island was first developed in the 1950s by entrepreneur and philanthropist Charles M. “Doc” Reinhart Jr. Doc Reinhart had a vision of creating a resort that would provide an escape from everyday life and offer something special to vacationers. He wanted to create a place where people could relax and enjoy nature, while having access to all the amenities of a modern resort.

In 1990, South Seas was acquired by Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts (SCBR), a company owned by Paul Toner and his family. The Toners invested heavily in the property, transforming it into one of the most highly regarded resorts in the area. Under their ownership, South Seas expanded its offerings to include multiple restaurants and bars, two championship golf courses, full-service spa facilities and countless recreational activities.

In 2017, SCBR sold South Seas to Driftwood Acquisitions & Development (DAD). DAD owns several other hospitality properties throughout North America, including Margaritaville Resort Orlando in Florida and The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa in California.

Conclusion:

South Seas Island Resort is currently owned by Driftwood Acquisitions & Development (DAD). It was previously owned by Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts (SCBR), which purchased it from original owner Charles M. in 1990. With its new ownership comes exciting potential for visitors looking to experience the beauty of Captiva island from this iconic destination.
