Why Did Blue Mountain Close Downhill Biking?

The closure of Blue Mountain’s downhill biking trails in 2018 came as a surprise to many local riders. The Ontario resort had been a popular spot for downhill biking for over a decade and had hosted several major international events. So, why did the resort suddenly decide to close its trails?

The closure of the trails was due to safety concerns. The resort’s management had determined that the terrain was too dangerous for riders of all levels, especially beginners and intermediates.

The steep slopes and sharp turns posed significant risks to riders who were not experienced enough to handle them. Additionally, the terrain was also not suitable for hosting large-scale events.

In an effort to make up for the loss of their downhill biking trails, Blue Mountain introduced a number of new attractions including a bike park with smaller jumps and ramps, as well as an adventure park with ziplines and ropes courses. While these new attractions may not have been able to replace the thrill of downhill biking, they did provide some recreational options for riders.

The decision by Blue Mountain to close its downhill biking trails was ultimately made in order to keep riders safe. Even though it may have been disappointing for some local riders, the closure was necessary in order to ensure that everyone who visited the resort could do so safely.

Conclusion:

Blue Mountain closed its downhill biking trails in 2018 due to safety concerns about the terrain being too dangerous for riders of all levels, especially beginners and intermediates. The resort replaced these trails with other attractions such as a bike park and an adventure park in order to provide recreational options while ensuring that everyone who visited could do so safely.
